Wordbook

This plugin allows you to cross-post to your Facebook account directly from your WordPress blog:

Requirements:

  • A Facebook profile :).
  • Privileges to install WordPress plugins on your blog. In particular, this means that wordpress.com bloggers are left out. Sorry :(. Bloggers using wordpress.com should check out the WordPress Facebook app.

To be notified of updates (this plugin is still rather young), monitor the Wordbook Discussion Board.

This posts “short posts” to my profile, but not to the FB “home” page (mine or anyone else’s), which limits its utility. (I rarely click on other people’s profile pages, just relying on the overall “home” page feed.) Is there a setting to change to make the “short posts” show up on the home page for my friends, etc., to see?

I saw a couple of users ask, but I’m gonna pile on. Is it possible to use this plugin to post to a group instead of a profile? My blog is business related and it would be nice to keep business(the group) separate from personal (the profile).

Rob — I know from “Other Notes” on your WordPress plugin description that you won’t be adding WordBook for Facebook Pages.

Is there someone else doing this?

Would compensation inspire you to work on this?

We’ve just started a Facebook Page and it’s frustrating how inflexible it is. I’ve installed an RSS feed in a Box, but would love to get this content onto the Wall of the Page.

    Thanks!

I used this plugin up until today when I narrowed down some issues I was having creating and deleting posts using WP 2.8 with Wordbook installed. Deactivating Wordbook eliminated server errors I was getting. Hope you will consider an update :-) Thanks for an awesome plugin.

I tried every configuration parameter in FB for the Wordbook application, and I always get a one-line message on my profile, and nothing is displayed elsewhere.

How is it possible to display a short message in Facebook and to show my new posts on my friends’ welcome page ?

Great plugin, but I’m having a problem. When I post using an auto poster, like YAAB, or wpanswers, the plugin attaches a number to the end of the url, like -2 or -4, so the url is not correct. When I post manually, it works fine. What can I do to fix this?

good concept, it could be a killer plugin if:
    - it did not re-post for any and every update to existing posts
    - allowed to post to facebook pages (fan pages etc)
    - allowed users to login to a wordpress blog through their facebook login/ID
    - did all this with Twitter too

good luck! there seems to be dozens of plugins that aim to do the above but no single one does it properly.

I agree with Nicko, I have the same ask to improve this plugin to a killer plugin!

I love the idea of having my blogs post to my company page, but I don’t find that as an option. I seems to want to update to my personal account. Thoughts on this?

In the future it would be possible to add the ability to stop delivery and change a little the feed?
    Thanks!

    Hi,

Thanks for the plugin, it works great! I have tested a bunch of different ones and this one by far works the best. In fact, a lot of the others don’t even work.

I do have a situation I am trying to figure out though.

Let’s say I create a Facebook profile and then I create a PAGE in Facebook for my business site.

How can I get WordBook to post to the PAGE and not the wall on the main Facebook account?

I hope that question makes sense.

    Thank you,
    Bert H.

Hi! I have a quick question : on my blog, I have several “guest authors”. It’s not WordPress multiuser, it’s a normal wordpress install, with a bunch of users with different privileges.
My question is : if I’m not the one posting the entry, can I be sure that the post will not be displayed on my facebook page ? If not, is there a way to show only my entries ? (I had a quick look at the code, I guess I’d need to specify my user ID somewhere) I haven’t tested, because I just set up the plugin, and I don’t really want to spam my facebook page with my tests (and that would also involve the modification of the posting limit), and also because I don’t have two different accounts (I have “admin” and “user” account, but they are linked, so they should be considered the same).

Thanks a lot ! And BTW, plugin works perfectly for “normal use” :)

I noticed that as I changed privacy settings on facebook , downloaded the TACO plugin for Firefox (which block advertising tracking cookies), and used Firefox to block most other third party cookies, that Wordbook stopped posting my posts to facebook. Can you tell me which of these Wordbook relies on to do it’s thing so I can temporarily enable it when I go on a posting binge?

    Hi Robert!
I noticed on the WordPress site for Wordbook you mentioned you might include an option to post or not post this to Facebook and was wondering if you had made any progress with that? If you do I will make a donation.
Thanks a lot, I can see me using this plugin a lot.

I cannot publish my wordpress articles to my facebook account. I receive the following error. I have been trying to use a number of different apps to connect but all have issues. error Wordbook failed to communicate with Facebook for Article 11: method = stream.publish, error_code = 200 (The user hasn’t authorized the application to perform this action). Your blog is OK, but Facebook didn’t get the update.

    Dear Friends,
first of all, thanks for your great work. We are using your wordbook-plugin since weeks and it works without problems. Untill now!
We created a new blog and tried to use your plugin again but the following fault came up:

Some other Facebook-related plugin has out-of-date facebook-platform libraries that are interfering with Wordbook (missing methods: profile_setFBML, stream_publish, users_getLoggedInUser, users_getInfo, users_hasAppPermission, auth_getSession). Deactivate each plugin one by one until this conflict goes away, then please contact that plugin’s author for an update. Active Plugins:

    * Wordbook (0.16.3)
