WP Authors

WP Authors provides an “Authors” widget in the sidebar, useful for identifying all the different authors in a multi-author blog. This widget used to be present in the Widgets plugin for WordPress-2.1, but was removed for WordPress-2.2.

Installation is the usual for a sidebar widget:

  • Download the zip file.
  • Unzip it into wp-content/plugins (or upload the wp-authors.php file into the wp-content/plugins directory on the web server).
  • Go to the WordPress “Plugins” control panel and activate “WP Authors”.
  • Go to the WordPress “Presentation” control panel and configure the widgets; add “Authors” to the sidebar.

I’ve written this a sidebar widget for WordPress-2.2.

This plugin is not necessary for WordPress-2.1, because it is already included in the Widgets plugin for WordPress-2.1.

If you like this plugin (or if you don’t), please leave a comment with a link to your website.

I really like the widget, but won’t be able to use it if a user with admin capabilities is displayed.
Do you have plans to exclude users with admin capabilities in future releases?
    cheers!

I am testing Wordpress for use in a school. I’m having a problem with the wp_author plugin.

On the side bar the Author links appear as:

    http://www.website.comauthor/tom

    instead of

    http://www.website.com/author/tom

I’ve download it again think it might be a bad file but the second one does the same thing. Do you know of a fix or am I doing something wrong?

hi, we just switched over to run our own wordpress. I have searched in the plugins for the original ‘authors’ widget, but find that it is no more and instead yours is the upgrade.
After I installed it, which worked great, I noticed when I clicked on the author, it showed their posts, but took out all the images. :( anyway to display their posts as they were published with photos.

    new site:
    http://elephantcloud.net
    old site:
    http://theelephantcloud.wordpress.com

    thank you

I’m having a problem and wondering if anyone can help. My name links to a 404 page for some reason. I used to be the admin, but recently bumped myself down to editor to see if that would solve the problem. It didn’t.

    Any help?

For some reason, when I select an author’s name, all of his posts show up in a different font and in all caps. Any idea how to fix this?

    Thanks.

I am wondering if there is a way to add small photos above each Author’s name? We have 10 bloggers on our site and I’d like to identify them on the sidebar with the added photo???
